The Detroit’s Got Talent Youth Performing Arts Conference, is a two-day training experience with professional performing arts instructors at Wayne State University

Compliments of our presenting sponsor, Fifth Third Bank, selected students will enjoy a full day of workshops, lunch and a tour of the Wayne State University (WSU) campus, all free of charge.

Day 1: Educational Music Field Trip

Day 2: Detroit’s Got Talent (DGT) Finale & Benefit Concert featuring Grammy award-winning bassist Terrance Palmer

Who should attend?
Young performing artists in grades 6th -12th with prior stage experience.

Four Workshops Available:

  • Vocal
  • Instrumental
  • Dance
  • Rap

Hurry! Apply early. Limited space available. There is no charge to attend this conference.

Workshop Content:

  • Instrumental Session-tone, clarity, range, sound, timing, beats, intervals, execution
  • Vocal Session-voice control, stage appearance, confidence, pitch, range, ladder
  • Dance Session-choreography, routine, originality, technique, movement, synchronization
  • Rap Session-creativity, performance, clarity, audience response, rhythm, lyrics, pitch

Awards Ceremony
Student workshop participants are encouraged to attend the Finale & Benefit Concert at Wayne State University, where workshop instructors will distribute various awards based upon participation. These awards include performing with the Detroit’s Got Talent winner on their music video or album recording

Please Note: Transportation to Wayne State University is not provided.

Student applicants are required to:

  1. Write a short narrative as to why they want to attend (see registration form)
  2. Explain proven performing arts experience or skills
  3. Acquire a recommendation from a teacher. Teachers should email recommendation

Who is Special Touch Learning Center?
